Privacy Policy

1. Scope and Who Is Responsible

RatioCalc is a trading name used by Mário Silvério, an individual operator established in Portugal, with a professional and service address at Rua da Boavista 67, 4445-348 Ermesinde, Porto, Portugal ("RatioCalc", "we", "us", or "our"). Mário Silvério is the controller responsible for the personal data described in this policy. Privacy requests can be sent to privacy@ratiocalc.net.

2. Information We Process

The information processed depends on how you use the site:

• Calculator inputs and outputs. Most calculations run entirely in your browser. The federal tax calculator sends the values needed for the calculation to a stateless server endpoint, which returns the result without saving the submitted values or result to an application database.
• Browser-stored data. Calculation history and financial goals can be stored in localStorage on your device. This data stays in that browser unless you export it, import it elsewhere, or delete it.
• Consent information. Google's certified Consent Management Platform (CMP) records and communicates choices for European advertising and Google Analytics purposes using the IAB Transparency and Consent Framework and Google Consent Mode.
• Technical and security data. Hosting infrastructure may process IP address, request URL, user agent, timing, approximate location derived from the request, error data, and similar logs needed to deliver, secure, and troubleshoot the site.
• Usage and device data. Where Google Analytics is permitted by the CMP or applicable settings, it may process page views, interactions, device or browser information, pseudonymous identifiers, and related usage data.
• Advertising data. On monetized pages, Google AdSense and its advertising partners may process identifiers, device information, approximate location, ad interactions, and related information according to the applicable consent signal, location, and Google settings.
• Communications. If you email us, we process your email address and the contents of your message so we can respond and keep an appropriate record.

3. Calculator and Dashboard Data

No account is required to use the public calculators. Browser-stored history and goals are not uploaded to RatioCalc merely because you view the dashboard. You can clear calculation history in the dashboard, delete individual goals, clear site data in your browser, or export a copy as a JSON file. Avoid entering information that you do not need for a calculation.

5. Analytics, Performance, and Advertising

RatioCalc uses Google's certified CMP for European advertising and Google Analytics choices. Google Analytics uses advanced Consent Mode: the Google tag is available with analytics and advertising storage denied by default, before any consent choice is known. Where consent is required, no Analytics or advertising storage is granted unless the CMP reports an eligible consent state. With denied storage, Google may receive limited cookieless measurement signals used for aggregate measurement and modelling. The AdSense publisher tag delivers Google's published consent interface on approved monetized pages, and Google uses the resulting TCF and Consent Mode signals to control eligible processing. Declining consent does not prevent calculator use.

Vercel hosts the site and provides Web Analytics and Speed Insights. Vercel describes these measurements as privacy-focused and aggregated: Web Analytics does not use third-party cookies and its visitor-session identifier is discarded after 24 hours; Speed Insights data points are not tied to an individual visitor or IP address. These tools run separately from Google Analytics and AdSense.

Advertising may be personalized or non-personalized according to your choices, location, Google settings, and the configuration available to us. RatioCalc does not use calculator inputs to select advertisements.

6. Providers and Disclosures

We do not sell personal information for money. We disclose information only as needed to operate the site, honor consented features, comply with law, protect rights and security, or complete a business transfer. Current provider categories include:

7. Retention

We keep information only as long as reasonably needed for the purpose described above:

• Federal tax-calculator inputs and results are not saved by the application endpoint after the request is completed.
• Consent records are retained by Google's CMP according to its settings and policies, until they expire, are replaced, or you withdraw the choice.
• Calculation history is limited to the 50 most recent entries in localStorage; history and goals remain until you delete them or clear browser storage.
• Infrastructure, security, and error logs are retained according to operational need and provider settings, then deleted or aggregated.
• Analytics and advertising retention is controlled by the applicable provider settings and policies.
• Emails and privacy-request records are kept only as long as needed to respond, document the request, protect legal rights, or meet legal obligations.

8. International Processing

RatioCalc and its providers may process information in the United States and other countries. Where applicable law requires safeguards for international transfers, the relevant provider may rely on adequacy decisions, standard contractual clauses, or another lawful transfer mechanism described in its documentation.

9. Your Privacy Rights and Choices

Depending on where you live and the law that applies, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, or objection; withdraw consent without affecting earlier lawful processing; and complain to a data-protection authority. These rights can be subject to exceptions and verification requirements.

• Use Privacy Choices in the footer to reopen Google's European regulations message and change a previous choice where that message applies.
• Enable Global Privacy Control (GPC) in a supported browser. RatioCalc keeps Google Analytics storage denied and does not upgrade Analytics consent while an active GPC signal is present. Limited cookieless measurement signals may still be sent by Google tags under denied Consent Mode. On monetized pages, the AdSense publisher tag may still load because it also delivers Google's consent interface; advertising processing remains subject to the applicable consent and regional signals.
• Clear or delete locally stored history and goals using the dashboard or your browser's site-data controls.
• Email privacy@ratiocalc.net to make a request concerning data controlled by RatioCalc. Describe the request and the browser or interaction involved; do not send sensitive financial data.

10. United States State Privacy Disclosures

Where a US state privacy law applies, the categories described in Section 2 may include identifiers, internet or network activity, approximate geolocation, inferences generated by advertising providers, and communications you send us. We use and disclose these categories for the purposes in Sections 4 through 6.

RatioCalc does not sell personal information for money. Some laws may define interest-based advertising disclosures as "sharing", "sale", or "targeted advertising". An active GPC signal keeps optional Google Analytics storage denied and prevents an Analytics-consent upgrade. Google tags may still send limited cookieless measurement signals under denied Consent Mode. The AdSense publisher tag may still load on monetized pages so Google's consent interface remains available; where a Google regulatory message applies, Privacy Choices lets you reopen it. We do not knowingly sell or share personal information of children under 13.

11. Security and Data Minimization

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards appropriate to a public web application and minimize server-side calculator storage. No internet service is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. Do not send Social Security numbers, account credentials, payment-card data, or other unnecessary sensitive information through the calculators or email.

12. Children

RatioCalc is a general-audience financial-information service and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact privacy@ratiocalc.net so we can review and delete it where appropriate.

13. Changes and Contact

We may update this policy when the service, providers, or legal requirements change. The date at the top identifies the current version. Material changes will be presented through an appropriate notice or renewed consent where required.
