Accuracy, sourcing and corrections

RatioCalc publishes financial calculators and explanatory material to help people understand scenarios and trade-offs. Accuracy and transparency take priority over producing more pages or making a result sound more certain than the underlying model allows.

Primary sources first

Current tax rules, contribution limits, lending definitions and regulatory facts are checked against government agencies, regulators, official documentation or other primary sources where available. Secondary sources can provide context, but they should not override a primary source for a current rule.

No universal thresholds when the real world varies

RatioCalc avoids presenting one debt ratio, valuation multiple, liquidity ratio, maintenance margin, return target or similar benchmark as universally good or bad when interpretation depends on the product, industry, institution, market or user circumstances.

Calculator behavior and explanation must agree

Public explanations are reviewed against what the calculator actually models. If a feature is not calculated—such as insurance, depreciation, state tax, transaction costs or issuer-specific timing—the page should not imply that it is included.

Editorial independence

Advertising is separate from calculator logic and editorial conclusions. An advertiser does not receive a different formula, ranking, estimate or recommendation inside a calculator. RatioCalc does not label paid placement as part of a calculation result.

Planning information, not individualized advice

RatioCalc does not know a visitor's full financial situation and does not provide individualized financial, investment, tax or legal advice. Results should be treated as estimates to support further analysis and verification.

Corrections

When an error or misleading statement is identified, the relevant formula, assumptions, text and tests are reviewed together. Material corrections are deployed rather than being left only as editorial notes, so the public explanation and calculation remain aligned.

Review cadence

Time-sensitive calculators require review when a new tax year, official limit, rule or source changes. Stable formulas are reviewed when the implementation, assumptions or surrounding guidance changes. Publication dates are not artificially refreshed when a page has not received a meaningful update.

Published validation record

Calculator-family review dates are published separately from article publication dates. The validation record explains the scope of each accuracy audit and makes clear that an internal review is not certification by a regulator, lender, accounting body or financial institution.
